Setting Intentions

 Setting Intentions

I have always found that setting intentions helps me to stay on track with bigger picture goals, like training to hike and run trails to the top of mountains. As I've done more research on intentions, I realize that there is truly a science behind how they can lead us to accomplishing our goals.

My best and most simple steps to setting intentions are inspired by a model outlined by AnnaMarie Houlis, lifestyle and travel journalist for Shape Magazine

  1. 1. Write down your intentions.

  1. 2. Be clear and honest with yourself about what you want to achieve.

  1. 3. Create positive intentions.

  1. 4. Match your mindset with your intentions – don't restrict yourself by doubting yourself.

These are few intentions I’ve set for my resolution this year of prioritizing my physical health:

  1. 1. I intend to dedicate at least one undistracted, uninterrupted hour daily to exercise.

  1. 2. I intend to recognize burnout when it happens, taking the appropriate days off from strenuous        exercise when I need to.

  1. 3. I intend to limit restrictive eating and instead choose meals & snacks that satisfy and fulfill me.

I highly recommend setting intentions like these that align with your own goals to create, if nothing else, a starting point to achieve them. Happy intention setting! 😊
